Your remarks about this Space 1999 episode are spot-on, couldn’t agree with you more! This was one helluva scary episode for me when I was a pre-teen!

  • MasterJediDude

Even if you hated the premise of the series (the moon traveling through interstellar space), they did suggest later in the series that they had traveled through a wormhole at some point. I also believe that there was something else pulling them along — correct me if I’m wrong.

that first year Space 1999 it seemed like 4 out of 5 episodes were highly depressing, morbid, and sometimes (like this one).. give you nightmares.

  • MrRowney1

this was the scarest episode , long before aliens ect good stuff

  • Nautilus1972

The whole premise of the show was nuts though – it would have taken years for the moon to even leave the solar system, if it managed to escape Jupiter’s gravity.

Serious nightmares after watching this as a kid. The UK channels Anglia/Thames were somehow showing this at about mid-day on a Saturday..

  • LordZontar

Just about my favourite episode of the first series. The classical music score really enhanced the story.

  • tonypa2000

I had nightmares when I saw this on TV. We had just gotten a color TV.

My parents didn’t let me watch Space: 1999 again after that.

Alien oven. ICK ICK ICK ICK ICK ICK!

This was the best episode of the first season and as a kid it scared the hell out of me. I am renting the whole series from netflix and I’m looking forward to seeing this one again

  • mikethegent

    Pretty good….

  • jaybird321

Adult and very scary. Great production and writing considering the genre.

  • gustavogomezdiaz

Totally agree. It was a pitty. Thanks for your comments and this interesting information. For the moment, I’ll try to download the chapters of 1st season. Thanks again, bro.

Besides that you will notice that they removed key figures in the series like Paul “(Played by Actor Prentis Hancock)” & Proffessor Victor Bergman “(Played by the late great Actor Barry Morse)” & replaced them with Tony “(Played by Tony Anholt)” & the Psychon metamorph Mya “(Played by the lovely Cathrine Schell)” and then the stories got stupid,The music got ridiculous & special effects got even worse! Then shortly thereafter Space 1999 sadly went into the rubbish tip!

  • darthsideous1968

    Thanks for the reply.
Season 1 of this show was THE BEST! Sadly some American writers & producers took control of the series and then when season 2 aired the whole look, attitude and stories of Space 1999 took a series crash & burn nose dive!
Season 2 tried to jazz the show up with corny music & even cornier special effects! They even added the groovy attitude of “Lets make luv on Alpha not war” between Cmndr Koenig & Dr Russel & introduced that wacky flirting between Tony & Mya!

  • gustavogomezdiaz

Really? I didn’t now that. I will check it out, bro.

  • gustavogomezdiaz

You are right. The best eps.

  • gustavogomezdiaz

I am totally agree with you. First season was the best, better effects, better histories. Dragon’s Domain was the best.

  • TonyHour

I never forget this episode, It touched me deep, the music is also very emotional, this episode is unique, I have never seen its equal

  • 45corleone

A terryfyng episode and not surprising that many of the people involved worked on the movie “Alien”, still gives me the creeps!

  • HerculesTAK

If they would recreate this film…with the same music and keep the ambiance…it would put the rest to shame!

  • bigkitten

Yeah, me too. Daft, wasn’t it?

  • HerculesTAK

I still maintain…one of the most frightening episodes in any series…and aired in 1975! It scared the living daylights out of me when I first saw it. I never walked into a dark basement again and looked at it the same way! Good work here!
